MICRO-OXYGENATION
The term micro-oxygenation refers to the addition of oxygen. Micro-oxygenation is used mostly in Red wines production. In this process, a very small measure of oxygen will be applied to the wine, over a long period of time (0,50 - 6 mg per liter wine per month). This amount serves to equal the amount of oxygen the wine would have absorbed if kept in a wooden barrel.
The purpose of this process is colour stabilization and quickening of the tannin polymerization. The wine produced will be softer and rounder.
MACRO-OXYGENATION
Macro-oxygenation refers to the carefully measured application of oxygen during and towards the end of the fermentation process, in the amount of 2-6 mg oxygen per litre each day. This process is exercised in the production of both red and white wine. It has been noted that application of oxygen towards the end of white wine fermentation has a positive influence.
In red wine production acts the oxygen together with the yeast to stabilize the red colour.
APPLICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS
· The OXYBOY is used for the application of oxygen in gas form to mash, must or wine.
·The OXYBOY can be applied in both Micro- and Macro-oxygenation
·The OXYBOY is equipped with sensitive sensors from the medical technology, thanks to which it is free from the influence of entry and exit pressure (height of must or wine). The unit reacts continuously to changing environment conditions (e.g. by decreasing the emptying of the oxygen bottle in reaction to lowered entry pressure.
·Through independent calibration each time the unit is switched on, and temperature compensation, the OXYBOY offers the highest precision and long-term stability in the application of oxygen.
·The simple and easy operations of the OXYBOY are supported by microprocessor technology and display lighting with a simple menu which is very easy to follow.
·The OXYBOY contains a quartz based timer (deviation range 1 minute in 100 days) which ensures the accuracy of the oxygen application also after the unit is switched off when set on timer.
·Integrated temperature measurement function allows the setting of operation within a temperature range. If the temperature exceeds or falls from the set limits, the unit will switch off automatically (optional). When the temperature returns to within the set limits, the OXYBOY knows, of course, what is expected of it.
·The solid stainless steel housing enables easy mounting options and allows a problem-free operation also in rough environment conditions.
